The Music Post

I thought we all could use a little respite from the crappy real world for a bit. I think I’ve mentioned in the past how much I love music. I even credit it with saving my life at one point. I just thought we could all talk about some the music we like. What genres and bands do you like? What’s you’re favorite album of all time? Things like that.

Myself, I like just about any type of music except Rap, Gospel and Country. I’m rocker ’till I die. 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Huey Lewis. Great stuff. Right now I’m really into Electronic/Dance music. Yeah, it’s more style than substance, and I don’t usually go for that, but it’s good to let your hair down and let loose once in a while. Put it on, turn the bass up and you feel alive. I use to be really into the Blues but that’s kind of died out over the past couple of years. I still like it but it just doesn’t hold me like it use to. And if you ever read the Album Of The Month posts I do then you know that Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon is my favorite album of all time. Were I better speaker I still couldn’t describe just how good that album is. I was at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and they had quite a few vinyl records, which are making a comeback, of DSOTM. Had I a record player I’d gotten on. I’ve always wanted to hear it as it was meant to be heard.

I just drove 20 hours in a car and enjoy XM’s Classic Vinyl and Lithium stations. I’m interviewing another Country star tomorrow on my show and candidly told him I don’t enjoy Country. Everything else I could give a pass to.

60’s, 70’s, 80’s, very early 90’s rock, particluarly heavy metal and hard rock. Floyd, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, the who thing. Jimmy Buffet. Even like the 80’s new wave and stuff and can tolerate some of the early rap, before it became about beeatches and ho’s and drugs and murder and stuff.

Classical is great, listen to 80’s and 90’s country, love stuff by Amy Grant (sexiest voice in music.) Old Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters. How ’bout some Bo Diddley Bo Diddley.

PS: favorite album is a toughy. Tossup between Rush’s Moving Pictures, Iron Maiden’s Killers, and Floyd’s Animals.
