My friend, former Wednesday Hero & infrequent contributor on this blog, Henry Cook (COL) (Retired), has officially filed his lawsuit against the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) as of last month. In a nutshell, Henry became the National Commander of the MOPH – called out the corruption and got ousted. Now he is taking legal measures. I have spent a lot of time talking to Henry about this – and guess what? I told him this morning as I have told him before – that I will stand behind him through this long fight as his friend and supporter. He is a good man and a true American Hero that does not tolerate corruption! Doing the right thing is often unpopular – but too bad!

All words of encouragement are welcome here. Henry will be reading them!

  • Thank you, Col Cook, for continuing to carry the colors and keep the faith long after you’ve served our country more than enough.
Too often we overlook our Retired Heroes, that is: those who still do heroic acts after they’ve earned a rest, who keep an eye out for those coming behind them and those yet to come. That’s a tall order, which you have executed with candor and honor.

And Mrs. Greta, thank you too for keeping the lights on this vital issue and our troops still serving in our place.

  • Thanks for your support!

  • HENRY,
THANKS FOR YOUR VALOR IN FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY. AND NOW THANKS FOR TAKING CARE OF OUR VETERANS . THIS MONEY IS FOR THEM NOT THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO HAVE GOOD TIMES. YOUR VERY SPECIAL TO ME HENRY, WE GREW UP TOGETHER AND ARE STILL GREAT FRIENDS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, I KNOW YOU WILL WIN THIS FIGHT. JUST AS BEFORE FIGHTING FOR OUR GOUNTRY. GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL OUR VETERANS.
    HELEN

  • It should be noted that my friend of so many years, Henry Cook, is not only an American hero, he continues to advocate for ALL of the veterans of this country. He truly cares about our wounded warriors and how they are being treated by this country and the MOPH. He is to be commended for revealing the corruption in that organization. I would have been very disappointed if he had not filed his suit. He WILL prevail. There should be a public apology for the way he has been treated and full reinstatement.

  • Greta: I remember when Henry Cook and me as his adjutant so proudly arranged grant monies, $100,000 for the much needed backpack program of the Great Soldiers’Angels led by their courageous Patty Bader! Who at the Military Order of the Purple Heart ended the giving? Is it because Col Cook gives of his pro bono efforts to the Angels? Why were the representatives of SA disrespected by a past team of leaders from the purple heart? Where were a few good men then? Ans:Idly standing by.

  • So called honorable men lambasting and denigrating Col. Cook for trying to protect our valued wounded warriors just seems beyond imagination. Everything he’s done for individual soldiers as well as organizations for veterans should only be greatly appreciated. He wants no thanks. Henry says it’s his duty and an honor to do these things. I agree there should be a major public apology and certainly reinstatement into the MOPH. That’s the right thing to do. Let’s give all the support and prayers we can muster.

  • I’ve had the honor to get to know several men whom I would follow into hell. Henry Cook is among the few. Lead On! Henry.

  • I have already posted on other blogs but you can never say too much about heros such as Henry Cook. I would like to see this brought to the attention of Fox News and even CNN but they would probably take the other side being that they’re usually opposite of Fox. Anyone out there able to present this to Fox? The last thing MOPH thugs want is to bring this to the public forum. Someone please take this ball and run with it. 60 Minutes? Give’m hell, Henry.

  • Sorry to hide behind the monicker of Ruptured Duck; but must explain. After the MOPH Aug 2010 Annual Conv. some States (Departments) not supporting the kangaroo court type proceedings vs. Col. Cook have seen their financial support from the MOPH Service Fdn. “magically” dry up. I’m fearful same would happen to my Department if my name were to be revealed; hence, the pen name. I cringe at the thought of our needy veterans and active duty members and their families bearing the vindictivness of the MOPH Natl HQ and the SF. I hope, Greta, that you and the followers of this blog will understand…Nevertheless, I will continue to aid Col. Cook and Past Nat’l Adjutant, Palagyi, in their righteous quest for full disclosure by the MOPH and SF of their wrong doings and support these two patriots in their battle for truth and and requited honor for themselves and for helping the MOPH turn into an organization which, again, helps veterans and not just the “few at the top.”

  • I wish that a clear distinction could be made between the service organization and the local chapters. We work hard to collect donations to distribute to needy veterans and their families.

  • Art – I highlighted that in my most recent post. http://hooahwife.com/2010/10/12/henry-cook-media-tour/

Ruptured Duck – that is very sad to hear.

  • A true American hero willing to make sacrifices for our country that the majority of us are either unable or unwilling to make. Henry did what real heros do…tell the truth when unpopular; call the brass to the mat. This man has suffered the ultimate betrayal from our own country; a man that sacrificed evertyhing FOR US. He deserves reinstatement and COMPENSATION.
